If you use Google Analytics, we can automatically tag links within your email campaigns to track your list members once they click from your campaign to your website, helping you determine conversion rates and number of sales generated.
We'll automatically add Google Analytics tags to each link that points to the exact domain(s) listed here. Once such a link is clicked, the tag information is passed to Google Analytics, allowing you to track your campaigns through your Google Analytics Dashboard.
To enable Google Analytics tracking for your email campaigns, first login to your account. Within the primary menu, go to 'Account.' Then click 'Extras' within the secondary menu. Select the 'Google Analytics' menu item. Next, click on the checkbox for 'Enable Google Analytics Integration' (Google Analytics Integration can be disabled at any time by unchecking this box).
Google Analytics tracking relies on certain settings. Some of these must be provided by you, while others are automatically set by us.
Here are the settings you must provide:
The setting identifies the source of your email newsletter. To easily identify which links were generated via your email campaigns in your Google Analytics Dashboard, we recommend using our service name as the campaign source.
Domains to Track
This setting defines which domains you want to track. The domains listed here must be an exact match to the URLs in your email. For instance, if http://xyz.com is in the list, then the URL http://xyz.com/newpage.html will be tracked, but http://www.xyz.com/newpage.html will not be tracked. If you have more than one domain you would like to track, click on 'Add Domain.' Presstacular will automatically add Google Analytics tags to each link that points to the exact domain(s) listed here.
For reference, here are the settings automatically set by us:
The 'utm_medium' field is always 'email'.
The 'utm_content' is filled in with the link text of the URL (any HTML within is flattened to plain text and images use the "alt" text if available else the image "src" link) or the word "TEXTLINK" when tracking plain text URLs.
The 'utm_campaign' field is filled with the current campaign's subject line.
Click 'Save' after you've entered your settings. Once you've sent your first email campaign with Google Analytics enabled, login to your Google Analytics account to see the results of your campaign.
