If you've subscribed to a service level that includes our white papers, you can leverage them to encourage website visitors to sign up for your email list.
To do this, you'll use the list signup form and welcome note included with your account. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Get your list signup form code
First, select 'List' from the primary menu and then 'Add List Members' from the secondary menu. Choose the 'Get Signup Form' option.
Next, click on the 'Get Code' button. This gives you the signup form code which you can copy and paste onto your website.
2. Add a call-to-action (CTA) to your form
Once you've copied and pasted the signup form code to your website, you'll want to add a CTA next to it. For instance, you can use "Download our IT White Papers" as a heading and then text below it like "Join our email list and we'll send you our white papers to help you manage your IT."
Another option for the heading can be to focus on one white paper and mention the others as a bonus, like "Download our Executive's Guide to IT Terminology" with a subheading like "and get our other IT resources as a bonus."
To enhance the offer, create thumbnail images of the white paper covers and add them next to your form. Use any screenshot tool to take pictures of the covers. Then, scale them down to a reasonable thumbnail size. Keep in mind that you may want to put your logo on the white papers beforehand.
3. Upload the white papers
Post PDFs of the white papers on your website. You don't have to link them from other pages on your site. This way, only people with the exact URL will be able to download them. If you'd like visitors to have access to multiple white papers, make an index page with links to each one.
4. Add a link on your welcome note
Next, go to 'List' within the primary menu. Then, select 'List Settings' from the secondary menu and choose 'Welcome Note.'
This allows you to configure your welcome note and include a link to the page on which you've posted the white paper(s). The welcome note is automatically emailed to someone when they fill out the list signup form and confirm their email address. (We require confirmation of the address to ensure someone doesn't enter a fake one.)
Your welcome note text can say something like "Thank you for joining our email list. Here is the white paper you requested." You can also elaborate on the text to talk about your company.
5. Turn on notifications
Lastly, select 'Account' from the primary menu and then 'Account Settings' from the secondary menu. Go to 'Notifications' and select "Yes" to enable notifications whenever someone subscribes.
