To add a custom subject line to your automatically published newsletter, first go to the AutoPublisher configuration page. Click on 'Account' within the primary menu and then 'Extras' within the secondary menu. Next, select 'AutoPublisher.' If the feature isn't already enabled, check the box next to 'Enable AutoPublisher.' Scroll down to the bottom of the form. Under 'Default Subject Line,' choose the 'Enter your own' option.
Here you can enter your own subject line text. We provide a variety of merge tags that let you insert dynamic content into your subject line.
#[ DATE_MONTH ]#
The month in which the newsletter is scheduled to be sent, i.e. January, February, etc.
#[ DATE_YEAR ]#
The year in which the newsletter is scheduled to be sent, i.e. 2015
#[ SENDER_COMPANY ]#
Your company name as entered on the contact form
#[ ARTICLEX_TITLE ]#
The title of an article from your newsletter, where X corresponds to the order of the SmartBlock or article teaser within the newsletter. Typically, this number will be 1, 2, or 3.
You can include one or more of these merge tags in your custom subject line, along with additional text. Here are a couple examples.
#[ SENDER_COMPANY ]# #[ DATE_MONTH ]# Newsletter
This would display your company name and the month in which your newsletter will be sent, followed by the word "Newsletter," i.e. Acmetech February Newsletter.
#[ ARTICLE1_TITLE ]#
This would would display the title of the first article in your newsletter.
In general, try to keep subject line length under 80 characters as some email clients truncate beyond this point. If you're using the article title merge tag, your subject lines may occasionally exceed 80 characters and may not be displayed in their entirety depending on the email client.
